New Catch! UC Shrimp Bowl and Shrimp Po’Boy
One of the unique aspects of Urbane Cafe is that we are able to offer a number of healthier seafood options even though we are not a quick service specialty seafood restaurant. Our Salmon Bowl and Ahi Tuna salad are some of the bestselling items on our menu. With this in mind, we have developed two more seafood items to offer our guests: our Shrimp Po’Boy Sandwich and a warm UC Shrimp Bowl.
A Shrimp Po’Boy is a sandwich that originated from New Orleans. It features either fried or sauteed shrimp and pairs it with a remoulade sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a roll. Our Shrimp Po’Boy takes butter poached shrimp that is seasoned with a blend of Cajun spices, rolled in crispy onions for some texture, and served with our housemade remoulade sauce. Remoulade is a classic French sauce that is typically made from mayonnaise, mustard, capers, pickles, and seasoning. Our Remoulade sauce uses our tangy Golden Mustard and blends it with mayonnaise and Cajun spices to add flavor and richness to the sandwich.
Our UC Shrimp Bowl is also inspired by the food of New Orleans, using our healthy mixed whole grain rice, we pair our Cajun marinated shrimp with seasoned buttered corn, roasted sweet potatoes and fresh marinated kale. We add some pickled Fresno chilies for a bit of color and spice, garnished with some crispy onions and dressed in our lemony remoulade dressing that brings all the flavors of the bowl together.
We hope you get excited for our new protein offering inspired by the South for a flavor-packed addition to our menu, just in time for Spring and for those observing Lent.
